Programs of Study

Students can pursue a computer science major with a concentration in cybersecurity, a business major with a concentration in cybersecurity, or a cybersecurity administration minor. These programs are designed to produce well-rounded cybersecurity professionals who are knowledgeable and skilled.

As technology advances, so do the tactics of cybercriminals. Cybersecurity professionals are essential to organizations to help combat threats effectively.

Flexible Schedule

The courses for the cybersecurity concentration are taught in a hybrid format. The classes for the business or computer science major will be in person in the Offutt School of Business’ Grant Center on campus, with the specialized cybersecurity courses taught online. This allows students to engage with dedicated Concordia faculty while incorporating classwork into their busy schedules.

The curriculum for the cybersecurity administration minor will be taught 100% online. These virtual classes will include an interactive framework, which enables students to work collaboratively on assignments. Learn where it’s most convenient for you!

Learning Outcomes

  • Network and System Security: Graduates gain a strong understanding of network infrastructure, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security tools used to safeguard systems.
  • Cryptography: Courses cover encryption techniques, decryption methods, and key management, allowing graduates to handle sensitive data securely.
  • Security Analysis and Testing: Students learn penetration testing methodologies, vulnerability assessment techniques, and how to identify and exploit system weaknesses.
  • Digital Forensics: Students may take courses in digital evidence collection, analysis, and presentation, which are valuable skills for investigating cybercrimes.
  • Risk Management: Graduates understand how to identify, assess, and mitigate cybersecurity risks within an organization.
  • Security Policy and Compliance: Students gain knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices for creating and implementing effective security policies.
